3 Tips to Curb Your Cravings and Fight Weight Gain

How many times have you found yourself craving a sweet treat in the middle of the night? What about finding yourself at the vending machine at work? It is very common to confuse hunger and cravings. When hungry, your body is indicating that you need to refuel. A craving can occur at any time, day or night, even after you just ate. Interestingly enough, cravings only last about 3-5 minutes.
While in search of a “quick fix” to satisfy a craving, we tend to reach for junk food, sweets, or candy. Neither benefits our health and ultimately leads to weight gain. Here are 3 tips to help curb your cravings and aide in weight loss.
Chew Your Cravings Away
One way to “snack less” is by trying our chewing gum. The Wall Street Journal recently mentioned our Snack Less gum in an article, "Chew On This: Gum That Promises to Help You Sleep and Make You Skinny." Snack Less gum features a Hoodia parviflora extract, which helps to suppress hunger.
Hoodia parviflora is shaved from the Hoodia plant and signals the brain that the body feels full and satisfied. Including this in our gum is a surefire way to help you to chew your cravings away. Plus, it’s available in 3 flavors (mint, strawberry, cinnamon), and both calorie and sugar-free.
Daily Exercise
When craving a certain type of food, you need to turn your attention elsewhere. Exercise of any kind will do just that. Whether it’s a trip to the gym, a run or walk in the park or yoga, get moving! Once you begin to train your body to work out regularly, it releases endorphins. The higher the level of endorphins helps to regulate your diet and help stop those pesky cravings.
If you feel like you don’t have the time to work out, start small. Start with 4 exercises and do 10 reps of each for 5 rounds. There are also apps that you can download to your phone that will give you timed workouts for whatever time frame you have available. That could be as little as10 or 15 minutes or more. For those that are visual learners, there are plenty of videos online that are free to access that will give you the complete workout you're looking for. Do not let time stand in the way of being active on a daily basis. Take baby steps.
Hydrate
When you have a specific craving, a quick way to get rid of it is to fill up on water. Not only does water replenish the nutrients in your body, but it simultaneously makes you feel full. Most importantly, when you drink water, you're not only burning fat from the foods you eat but stored fat as well.
Increasing your water intake also helps to flush out any impurities you may have in your body. It also helps to limit your amounts of liquid calories that you may consume in the forms of coffee, tea, soda, juice, or sports drinks. When you eliminate the waste in your body and decrease calories, all of that helps in keeping the weight off.
Is There a Secret to Weight Loss?
The basics of weight loss are as simple as changing your diet, increasing your water intake, and implementing a daily workout routine. Making those changes is so important as it changes the way you think and feel. While it’s okay to indulge now and then, make smarter choices which will help in the long run to prevent you from making rash decisions.
